Deadly Car Crash Kills One on Utica Avenue
An elderly woman was killed on March 15th, 2018 when a driver backed up and ran over her on Utica Avenue.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 9:28 p.m. A 71-year-old man was driving a Cadillac sedan in reverse. He was doing so near Avenue L. While driving in reverse, he hit a Chevrolet Equinox that was parked. The Equinox then hit the 75-year-old woman. She was not in a vehicle at the time. The driver then hit another parked car.
Emergency Responders found the woman and saw she had leg injuries. She was taken to Kings County Hospital and was pronounced dead on March 16th. According to police, the driver who caused the accident was not injured.
The police said the woman was Lucille Raphael, a resident of Boerum Hill. The accident caused her to have a heart episode which is what lead to her death. The driver said that his car’s gas pedal was having problems and that caused the crash. Police are doing an investigation.
