RICHARD R. MOGG

Richard “Rick” Mogg, Attorney and Counselor at Law, has been admitted to practice law in the courts of the State of New York since 1990.

Rick tries plaintiffs’ negligence cases involving motor vehicle and truck accidents, construction site accidents, premises slip, trip, and fall, elevator and escalator accidents, dental and medical malpractice, dram shop, wrongful death, and lead paint poisoning.

As a young lawyer, Rick worked with William Kunstler, the civil rights and criminal defense attorney. In the early 1990s, he was a trial attorney at the insurance defense firm Leahy & Johnson. Having practiced on both the plaintiff and defense side, Rick has tried cases for plaintiffs for most of his career, and at one time he ran his own solo practice. Other lawyers hire him to try their cases, especially their most significant ones.

Rick has worked at Frekhtman & Associates since 2009. He mentors younger lawyers and paralegals and teaches them how to be better lawyers in and out of the courtroom.

Rick has obtained six- and seven-figure verdicts and settlements in hundreds of cases over his career. He prepares each case for trial and works with experts in medicine, engineering, safety, accident reconstruction, economics, vocational rehabilitation, and other fields.

$2,800,000 mediated settlement in a construction site accident case, Neurauter v. City of New York, Supreme Court, Queens County. A worker was injured in a trench in the roadway.

$2,500,000 mediated settlement in a car accident case, Bishop v. Harris, Supreme Court, Kings County.

$2,400,000 settlement in a tractor-trailer accident case, McKenna v. DJM Transport, Supreme Court, Bronx County.

$1,200,000 mediated settlement in a premises liability case against a laundromat.

$755,000 verdict in a car accident case, Supreme Court, Westchester County. The case involved aggravation of pre-existing lumbar spine fusion injuries.

$750,000 settlement during trial in a medical malpractice case, Lucilla Ramos and William Ramos v. Mike Chou, M.D.

$600,000 jury verdict in a car accident case, Supreme Court, Kings County. The plaintiff had a herniated disc and shoulder arthroscopy.

$600,000 verdict in a motor vehicle accident case, Chacko v. Vavakos, Supreme Court, Kings County. The plaintiff had a herniated disc.

$510,000 verdict in a car accident case at an intersection with ongoing construction, Chopak v. City of New York.

$325,000 settlement in a sidewalk trip-and-fall case, Negron v. 1400 Holding, et al., Supreme Court, Kings County.
