Train Accident Lawyers: 4 Dead, 67 Injured In Bronx Train Derailment

Earlier this month, a passenger train derailed in New York, killing four people and injuring at least 67. Authorities are investigating the terrible accident, but so far have not come up with any early explanation for what could have caused this disaster,

According to CNN, the train had about 150 people on it and was headed into the city from Poughkeepsie. It derailed Sunday, Dec. 1 in the Bronx, approximately 10 minutes north of Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.

What’s alarming is that this is not the first accident this particular stretch of track has seen. In July, a freight train derailed in the same area. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called this portion of track “dangerous…just by design.”

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.

Mass transit accidents like this are dangerous because they involve the possibility that many, many people could be killed or hurt all at once. Furthermore, there is very little that mass-transit passengers can do to protect themselves. They are almost entirely at the mercy of the agency or company transporting them.

As train accident lawyers, we often work with clients who have been hurt in incidents like this. We also help families who have lost loved ones to similar accidents. We consider it our duty to apply our dedication and knowledge of applicable law to causes we believe in, and we certainly believe in helping people move on as best they can from harm that has befallen them through no fault of their own.
