Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Car in Long Island

An adult male pedestrian was killed last Saturday night after he was hit by a car on West Main Street, according to Riverhead police.

The accident happened at 8:43 at night. Police received a 911 call related to a pedestrian accident involving a motor vehicle. This happened near Weeping Willow Park.

Police arrived and officers found an adult male. They determined that he had serious injuries and was not breathing. CPR was delivered.

The man was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center. The victim had suffered severe injuries to his head and body. He was then taken to Southside Hospital and was pronounced dead while there.

Police determined that a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling east on West Main Street where he hit the pedestrian. The driver remained on the scene and no criminal charges were filed.

The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the investigation. They are still seeking witnesses at the scene to tell them what happened.
