Update: MTA Bus Action Plan

The MTA unveiled a Bus Action Plan on Monday to improve their service. This plan includes measures that are sweeping and mean to improve the reliability and speed of the bus service in NYC. They are looking to modernize the network as the MTA bus has been losing ridership over the years.

The plan is being presented by NYC Transit President Andy Byford. He is looking to reinvent the service. He wants to evaluate every bus route and revamp the entire program.

They are looking to meet many initiatives that will be completed ranging from short-term to long-term.

Changes include the MYmta app which will be made available in the next few weeks. This app will replace the apps already being used. This is the first of several steps that Byford came up with. He is looking to implement his overarching plan within his first 100 days on the job.

Around 2.5 million people use the MTA network of local and express buses. The bus speeds are about  8 mph on average which is the slowest of any bus system in major cities in America.

If you’ve been injured in a MTA bus crash that was caused by the negligent or reckless actions of another person or entity, there are legal options for you. By filing a personal injury claim, you could seek recovery for damages. If you need help with a New York City bus accident claim call Frekhtman & Associates at (212) 222-1111.
