In February, a rescue crew pulled a man to safety after a collapse happened at a construction site in Brooklyn. This happened in late February. The accident happened on the 4000 block of Rutland Road in the Wingate section at around 12:30 in the afternoon. According to the FDNY, a vacant 100-year-old building that was under deconstruction partially collapsed. The man was trapped under the debris, which buried him up to his waist.
The man was trapped in the rubble under a beam. He was trapped for nearly an hour and a half. Officials say that the man was conscious when he was rescued. The paramedics listed his condition as critical but stable after the incident. His injuries were severe but not life-threatening.
The building was purchased by a neighboring church. The Department of Buildings issued three enforcement actions including violations for work without permit for removal of sections of the building and two other vocations.
