uber accident lawyer

As major metropolitan cities and smaller towns try to reduce passenger car traffic, more Americans are requesting rides with Uber, Lyft, and taxi companies. Yet while these vehicles can offer some added convenience and fee savings, rideshare transportation poses unique liability risks to many passengers who suffer serious injuries or die in accidents. [table-of-content] Taxi company handling of rider safety & liability issues – compared to Uber & Lyft Although taxis are usually inspected and maintained regularly by reputable company owners, the same cannot always be said about the privately-owned vehicles used by Lyft and Uber drivers. Walls Cave in as Employers Ignore Safety Standards In Case Of Trench Accident

Although many workers face serious dangers when handling trench work on New York City construction sites, unskilled or apprentice workers must often handle the most dangerous tasks. And even when criminal charges are considered after a trench worker dies, employers often escape such liability. Yet despite the difficulties of getting appropriate trench safety training to all workers and supervisors, OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and groups like NUCA (the National Utility Contractors Association) keep fighting for better standards and conducting user surveys. NUCA has also sponsored activist programs like the Trench Safety Stand Down. What follows is a brief review...

How To minimize Injuries In Case Of Motorcycle Accident In NYC

Traveling without the protection of a car or truck body frame makes it doubly important for motorcyclists to review all driving rules and regulations. After all, simply forgetting a new traffic rule, failing to wear a helmet, or ignoring motorcycle inspection and repair issues can lead to serious injuries or even death. It is also crucial for all New York City motorcycle riders to learn about the different types of licenses available, how to properly maneuver a motorcycle in traffic, and keep up with the minimum safety requirements designed to protect passengers. Here is a broad overview of rules and regulations for...

Manhole Cover Explosions in NYC Threaten Public Safety

manhole-explosions-lawyer 2

During the past decade, New York City residents have suffered serious injuries and endured dangerous power failures after fires and explosions have erupted underneath manhole covers. For example, in February of 2021, Manhattan cars and storefronts were damaged around the time the Fire Department received calls about smoke coming from multiple manholes. Soon, one of the manholes exploded, cutting off power to area buildings - and filling some of them with carbon monoxide gas. And back in February of 2015, a man was struck in the head by a flying manhole cover in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood. Days later, he was...

The MTA, which stands for Metropolitan Transportation Authority, is in charge of one of the largest mass transit systems in the world. Why Personal Protective Equipment Often Fails to Fully Protect Workers

construction-accident-lawyer-brooklyn

Construction site supervisors have a legal duty to their workers to carefully choose the most effective personal protective equipment PPE for every project. Maintaining a safe working environment not only helps to complete projects on time – it prevents workers from suffering serious injuries or deaths. What is personal protective equipment? Personal protective equipment, commonly referred to as "PPE", is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses. These injuries and illnesses may result from contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards. Personal protective equipment may include items such as gloves, safety...

Useful Tips for Evaluating Safety on Your NYC Construction Site Job

construction-site-lawyer-new-york-city

Far too often, New York City construction workers must tell their project supervisors and managers when basic safety standards are not being met. Although this places an unfair burden on workers eager to keep their jobs, alerting supervisors to serious OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) violations can help greatly reduce injuries and save lives. During daily or weekly construction site training sessions or meetings, supervisors have a duty to remind all workers of the most common safety violations – and provide further learning material by placing OSHA safety posters near check-in areas (or timeclocks) and locker areas. All construction workers (and...
