Queens Motorcycle Crash Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Hurt
A motorcycle accident in Queens on Sunday, Oct. 14, left one man dead and another severely injured.
As a New York City attorney who often helps personal injury clients, I have to shake my head at this story. It is undeniably tragic, but sadly, one thing it is not is uncommon.
According to CBS New York, a 27-year-old Queens man was driving northbound on Cross Island Parkway in Queens around 5:30 a.m. when he collided with a low barrier near Whitestone Expressway.
When police arrived at the scene of the motorcycle accident, they found the man suffering from severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man had a passenger on the motorcycle with him. This man, who is also 27, was taken to Queens General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
If the passenger chooses, he might file a personal injury lawsuit against the estate of the driver. If this crash was due to some irresponsibility on the part of the driver (notice we said “if”), then the passenger might have a cause of action.
As Queen’s motorcycle accident lawyer, I often help New York residents attend to the fallout of similar incidents. If you have been hurt in a motorcycle accident (or truck, car, bicycle or pedestrian accident) it is vital that you do not meekly accept what has happened to you as pure and simple fate. In many cases, you have the option to influence what happens to you; you simply have to be proactive, dedicated and committed.
