Truck Accident Lawyer Notes New York Crash Involving Fed Ex Truck

A Fed Ex truck was involved in a fatal collision in upstate New York, according to a local news report. New York state troopers indicate that a two-vehicle wreck happened in Granby on State Route 3 between County Route 8 and Rathburn Road at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Truck Crosses Into Other Lane

The Fed Ex truck was reportedly eastbound on Route 3 when it crossed into the westbound lane. A head-on crash with a 2013 Honda Civic ensued. The impact sent both vehicles off the road and into a pond where they both ended up partially submerged. The investigation is ongoing, and the reason for the Fed Ex truck crossing over into oncoming traffic is unknown thus far.

Multiple first responders appeared at the site of the crash, including those from LifeNet, the Fulton Fire Department, Granby Center Fire Department, Menter Ambulance and Minetto Fire Department.

Loss of Life and Serious Injury

State troopers reported that the 41-year-old male driver of the Fed Ex truck was ejected at impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 38-year-old female driver of the Honda also died at the scene of the accident. Her passenger, a 20-year-old female, was airlifted via LifeNet helicopter to Upstate University Hospital. Preliminary reports suggested that she suffered head trauma in the crash, and she was subsequently reported to be in critical condition.

When a commercial vehicle causes injury or loss of life, the company that owns and/or operates the vehicle may be held liable. In this case, a full investigation into this tragic accident may yield key information as to why the Fed Ex truck crossed into the oncoming lane. When a delivery vehicle is involved in a crash, there may be an investigation into whether a shifting load caused the driver to lose control. In some accidents, a commercial driver may have been momentarily distracted. In others, a parts failure might contribute to a loss of vehicular control.
