Bus Accident Lawyers Discuss MTA Bus Crashing Into FDNY Fire Truck

The FDNY fire engine was westbound on Ditmars Boulevard when it collided with an MTA bus northbound on 21st Street. The crash occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. The fire engine was en route to an “all hands fire” on 26th Avenue in Astoria.

At the time of the collision, there were five firefighters on the fire truck and 13 passengers, and a driver on the MTA bus.

Many Injuries, Some Serious

One witness described how a pregnant woman required assistance off the bus and that one child was bleeding. Emergency personnel transported one firefighter to Mount Sinai Hospital. All other injured victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

According to a report in the New York Post, 12 civilians and two firefighters sustained injuries. Two individuals had serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to an FDNY spokesperson. A witness alleged that the bus was traveling at an excessive speed before the crash.
