Fire Destroys 7 Businesses in Bronx

On April 23, a five-alarm fire burned through many stores that were situated in a row. This incident occurred in the Fordham area of the Bronx.

The fire started at East 194th Street at around 5:30 n the morning on Tuesday. Around 250 firefighters came to the scene with 50 pieces of equipment.

Ladders were used to knock down some of the flames, and the fire was brought under control hours after they began fighting the blaze.

The fire is reported to have destroyed seven businesses. These businesses included a pizza shop, barbershop, Chinese restaurant, and more. A grocery store was able to be saved.

FDNY Chief of Department James Leonard said the success of the day is that there were no injuries.

Authorities are still working to figure out where the fire started and what the cause of the fire was.
