Helicopter Pilots Were Warned of Safety Problems Months Before Fatal Crash
Another update on the East River helicopter crash has become available. This update occurred on April 7, 2018.
This tragic accident led to the death of five passengers aboard a sightseeing helicopter in NYC. The only survivor of the crash was the pilot, but all other people on board died after the helicopter crashed into the East River.
According to sources, for months before the incident, pilots for the company that operated the flight had been warning their bosses about hazardous conditions. These hazardous conditions included equipment that would make escape difficult.
The pilots had requested better safety gear. One pilot even made a series of recommendations to the company four days before the accident occurred.
The company in question was FlyNYON.
The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the crash. The New York Attorney General’s Office has also started a consumer protection investigation into FlyNYON business practices and safety procedures.
