Police allege that a motorist left the scene of a pedestrian accident on the George Washington Bridge, but he returned a short time later.

Driver Allegedly Loses Control of Car

According to News4, the 34-year-old male motorist was eastbound on the bridge at approximately 4 a.m. when he lost control of his 2009 BMW. At that point, the vehicle allegedly struck a pickup truck and two pedestrians.

One Injured, One Killed

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and they transported the 46-year-old male pedestrian and 46-year-old female pedestrian to Lincoln Medical Center. The woman received treatment for multiple injuries, and medical personnel stated that she was in stable condition. However, the man did not survive.

Driver Facing Multiple Charges

Police took the driver of the BMW into custody. He faces a variety of charges, including DWI, criminally negligent homicide, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
