Firefighters Save Five People from Queens Fire

Firefighters face difficult conditions while fighting a fire in Queens.

A fire started inside a Queens home on Sunday morning. The blaze trapped a grandmother and her granddaughter. The only way they could get out was through a small window located in the attic.

The FDNY responded to the fire.

Two firefighters pulled the woman to safety through the tiny window. The stairs in the house were blocked by flames and smoke.

The woman acknowledges that she would have died if the firefighters hadn’t saved her, and she said that they also saved the life of her granddaughter.

The granddaughter was seen being taken to the hospital in an ambulance where she was treated for smoke inhalation.

The girl’s father and grandfather also sustained minor injuries, and one firefighter receives medical attention for minor injuries.

The Department of Buildings said the home had been illegally converted into a home with five units, which could have been a contributing factor.

Were you injured in a fire? Was the fire caused by the negligent or reckless actions of another person? If someone was not following laws related to safety and that caused the accident, you could have a personal injury claim. If you sustained serious injuries, you could receive financial compensation for the damages.
