Bronx, NY (July 10, 2026) – A large box truck appeared to rear-end an Acura SUV on the northbound Major Deegan Expressway under the West 233rd Street overpass in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx at around 10:11 a.m. on July 10, 2026. Fire department radio transmissions from Ladder 46 reported two people injured at the scene.
Firefighters from Ladder 46 were observed parked behind the truck while occupants of the Acura remained stopped in the left lane. A firefighter was later seen speaking with a male and a female occupant. The female was seen holding her head as the male helped her back into the passenger seat. Both vehicles then departed heading north, reportedly to meet emergency medical services at another location.
As of the time this article was published, neither the FDNY nor the NYPD had responded to requests for official information about the collision. The investigation remains open.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
A highway collision with a commercial truck can cause injuries that take time to fully surface. Knowing what steps to take early can protect both your health and your right to pursue a claim.
Truck Accident Claims in the Bronx, New York
Commercial truck crashes generate more recoverable evidence than most accidents, but that evidence has a short shelf life. Federal carriers often dispatch accident response teams within hours of a collision, and data from the vehicle can be overwritten quickly without a formal preservation request.
- See a doctor today, even if you feel fine at the scene. Whiplash, concussion, and soft tissue injuries can take 24 to 48 hours to appear.
- Do not give a recorded statement to the trucking company’s insurer. Their adjusters represent the carrier, not you.
- Preserve everything you have: scene photos, witness contact information, and any outreach from the other driver or their employer.
- Do not accept an early settlement offer before an attorney reviews the full extent of your injuries and damages. Initial offers rarely account for long-term costs.
Liability in a commercial truck crash may extend beyond the driver. The motor carrier, a cargo loader, and any third-party maintenance contractor may each share responsibility under New York and federal law. New York follows a pure comparative fault standard, which means compensation may still be available even if more than one party contributed to the collision.
Under New York law, you generally have three years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim (CPLR ยง 214). This crash occurred on July 10, 2026. The filing deadline is July 10, 2029.

A rear-end crash on the Major Deegan during the morning commute leaves people managing pain and unanswered questions at the same time. The trucking company already has a version of what happened.
