Brooklyn, NY (September 5, 2026) – A 58-year-old man died after being struck by an MTA bus in a bus lane near Nostrand Avenue and Clarendon Road in Brooklyn, according to the New York City Police Department.
Police said the crash happened a little after 8:00 p.m. on September 5 in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. The NYPD said the man stepped off the sidewalk and made contact near the back of the bus as it pulled away from a stop, and he was run over by the bus’s rear wheels.
Bystanders stopped to offer help, and the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Police have not yet officially identified him.
The NYPD said no arrests have been made, and it remains unclear whether the bus driver will face any charges.
