Brooklyn, NY (July 18, 2026) – A 67-year-old man died after a car jumped a sidewalk curb and struck him while he was walking on Franklin Avenue, according to the NYPD.
Officers received a 911 call around 3:06 p.m. on July 18 near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and St. Marks Avenue, reporting a pedestrian strike and a motor vehicle collision, police said.
A Hyundai driven by a 32-year-old man was traveling southbound on Franklin Avenue when it collided with a Toyota driven by a 48-year-old man, authorities said. The collision caused the Hyundai to jump the curb.
As the vehicle jumped the curb, it struck the 67-year-old man walking along the sidewalk. He suffered head trauma, police said.
Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. Both drivers remained on the scene.
No arrests have been made, and a full investigation is ongoing. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
