Brooklyn, NY (July 8, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on Fulton Street in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood sent a BMW crashing into the front of a commercial building and left three people injured, including a pedestrian who had been walking nearby, police say. The crash happened just before 11:10 p.m.
Police say a black Cadillac and a BMW collided on Fulton Street. The force of the impact sent the BMW into the front of the building, where it also struck the 28-year-old pedestrian. The pedestrian and both drivers were transported to Kings County Hospital. Police say all three are expected to recover.
Police identified the two men as Robert Walker, 43, and Anthony Hayes, 56, both from Pennsylvania. Walker faces charges of vehicular assault, criminal mischief, disobeying traffic laws, and reckless endangerment. Hayes faces charges of vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and aggravated reckless driving.
The crash left heavy damage to the front of the building. By the morning of July 9, the damaged section had been boarded up. The New York City Department of Buildings issued a partial vacate order covering the first-floor commercial space and a staircase while inspectors evaluate the structure. The FDNY confirmed that National Grid was called to the scene to shut off the gas as a precaution. A standpipe inside the building was damaged in the impact, sending water flooding in, and workers spent the following morning pumping it out.
