Inwood, NY (August 20, 2026) – At least one person suffered critical injuries on the morning of August 20 after three cars collided and jumped the curb in Inwood, according to police.

Police said at least three vehicles were involved in the collision. Two additional cars that were parked at the time were also struck and damaged.
Officers closed the intersection while investigators worked the scene. The extent of injuries to any other occupants involved has not been released.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Car Accidents in Manhattan, New York
When three vehicles collide hard enough to jump a curb, sorting out fault takes real investigation, and acting quickly protects both your health and your claim.
- See a doctor today, even if you feel fine. Some injuries from a multi-car collision, including concussions and soft-tissue damage, do not show symptoms for days.
- Do not speak with any driver’s insurance company before speaking with an attorney. Recorded statements taken early are often used later to minimize a claim.
- Preserve evidence early. Traffic camera footage, dashcam video, and photos of vehicle positions and sidewalk damage disappear or get overwritten fast, sometimes within days.
- Do not accept a settlement offer before an attorney has reviewed your case. Early offers rarely account for future medical costs or lost income.
With three vehicles involved and no fault determination yet released, liability may fall on one driver or be shared among more than one. New York follows a pure comparative negligence rule, meaning you can still recover damages even if you were partly at fault, with your award reduced only by your own share of responsibility.
Under New York law, you generally have three years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim (CPLR § 214). For this crash, that deadline falls on August 20, 2029. Waiting does not help your case. Witness memories fade and physical evidence disappears long before that date arrives.

Our Manhattan car accident lawyers have spent more than 25 years sorting out fault in multi-vehicle crashes like this one and recovering compensation for injured New Yorkers, including a $69,225,000 auto accident verdict, one of the largest ever in New York State.
Traffic camera footage and 911 dispatch records from a chaotic multi-car scene are only kept for a limited window, so preserving them now protects your claim later. The same goes for the damaged vehicles themselves, which insurers sometimes move to a salvage yard before an independent inspection can happen.
We take these cases on contingency, so there is nothing owed upfront and nothing owed at all unless we win. A free consultation costs you nothing and starts the clock on preserving evidence in your favor.
