Manhattan, NY (September 13, 2026) – A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Harlem River Drive in Manhattan on the evening of September 13, police said.
Officers from the 33rd Precinct responded to the northbound lanes of the Harlem River Drive at High Bridge around 7:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a pedestrian had been struck, according to the New York City Police Department. A preliminary investigation found that the woman had climbed over the barrier separating the pedestrian path from the roadway and entered the northbound lanes when she was struck by a dark-colored sedan.
The impact sent her to the pavement, where responding officers found her with severe head trauma. The driver of the sedan did not remain at the scene and left the area, according to police.
EMS rushed the woman to Harlem Hospital, but she could not be saved and was pronounced dead. Her identity had not yet been determined as of the latest available reports.
