Police are looking into a hit-and-run accident that happened in the Shirley area of Long Island in Suffolk County. This accident left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

The accident happened at around 2:30 in the morning on Sunday at William Floyd Parkway near Flintlock Drive.

The police say that a man was walking across the parkway when he was a hit by a vehicle that was headed south. The person in the vehicle fled and did not get out of their car.

The pedestrian was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and was listed to be in critical condition. The identity of the victim has not been released.

Suffolk County police are asking for people with information to call them.
