Three People Killed in a Hit-and-Run Near Lakewood
Three people were killed on March 8th, 2018 after a hit-and-run accident. The driver hit the other vehicle and forced it to roll. This accident happened on Interstate 5 and shut down the freeway for over five hours. This happened near Bridgeport War.
A police officer from DuPont was also hit by a semi-truck while he was sitting in his car at the scene of the accident. He suffered neck and back injuries because of this and was released from the hospital on Thursday morning. The police car he was in was totaled.
The accident happened at around 2:15 a.m. when a driver, who is suspected to have been drunk, was driving south on I-5. The driver swerved across multiple lines and hit a 1999 Honda CRV. This caused the Honda to be pushed into the barrier and then roll. The impact threw out the engine and other debris onto the highway and another vehicle hit the debris.
Two people in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene la this person was trapped and pronounced dead after paradise evacuated them from the vehicle. The victims were a 30-year-old man, a 44-year old woman, and a 51-year old man. They have not been identified.
