Deadly Car Crash Kills One on Utica Avenue
An elderly woman was killed on March 15th, 2018 when a driver backed up and ran over her on Utica Avenue. According to police, the accident occurred at around 9:28 p.m. A 71-year-old man was driving a Cadillac sedan in reverse. He was doing so near Avenue L. While driving in reverse, he hit a Chevrolet Equinox that was parked. The Equinox then hit the 75-year-old woman. She was not in a vehicle at the time. The driver then hit another parked car. Emergency Responders found the woman and saw she had leg injuries. She was taken to Kings County Hospital and was pronounced dead on March 16th. According to police, the driver who caused the accident was not injured. The police said the woman was Lucille Raphael, a resident of Boerum Hill. Outrage After Two Kids Killed in Brooklyn by Vehicle Driver
Two children were killed after a car hit them while they were crossing a street in Brooklyn. This happened in early March of 2018. This accident lead many transit advocates in the area to call for safer streets. They lead a protect outside of a YMCA where Mayor Bill de Blasio often works out. The two children who were killed were Abigail Blumstein, 4-years-old, and Joshua Lew, 1-year-old. The children were with their mothers when the accident happened. Car Crashing into Scaffold in Harlem Causes Injury to Three People
Three people were injured and had to be sent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon of March 27th, 2018 after a car hit a scaffolding. This incident occurred on a street in East Harlem, according to officials. The crash happened in front of 2382 Second Avenue which is next to the corner of East 122nd Street. This accident happened at about 1:30 p.m., according to police and fire officials who were at the scene. Emergency responders arrived at the scene soon after and moved three people to Harlem Hospital. The three people who were injured did not have life-threatening injuries, according to an FDNY spokesperson. But, the extent and severity of their injuries was unknown. Three People Killed in a Hit-and-Run Near Lakewood
Three people were killed on March 8th, 2018 after a hit-and-run accident. The driver hit the other vehicle and forced it to roll. This accident happened on Interstate 5 and shut down the freeway for over five hours. This happened near Bridgeport War. A police officer from DuPont was also hit by a semi-truck while he was sitting in his car at the scene of the accident. New York Teen Dies From Injuries a Year After Crash
In Colonie, New York, a teenager who suffered severe burns died from his injuries over a year after the car crash he was in happened. This accident happened in New York over a year ago. According to the Albany County district attorney’s office, the 17-year-old, Niko DiNovo, died on Monday evening of the 19th of March. According to sources, the teen suffered third-degree burns to around 95 percent of his body. He received these injuries after a car crushed that happened in October 2016 in Colonie. The accident was caused when DeNovo’s friend, Michael Carr, was driving over the speed limit. He was driving 60 mph in a 30mph zone, and he lost control of his car and hit another parked vehicle.
