Update: Building Where Firefighter Died in Harlem to Be Torn Down

This update is from a story we reported on earlier this week.

The Harlem building that was severely damaged in a five-alarm fire will be torn down. This fire led to the death of one firefighter. This information comes from the Department of Buildings.

Demolition on the building located on 773 Nicholas Ave has started. The building was a five-story building that was being used as a movie set for a film called “Motherless Brooklyn.” The film is being directed by Edward Norton.

The damage that occurred to the building from the fire comprised structural integrity which is why it is being torn down.

The firefighter who died was a fifteen-year veteran of the FDNY. His name is Michael Davidson.
