Driver with Damaged Vehicle Denies Starting Crash

The Orchard Park Police got many calls last weekend about a vehicle that was crashing into parked cars on Lake Avenue east of Abbot Road. Many other callers reported to the police that the driver fled from the scene and that he was heading eastbound. The car had received significant damage to its front end and was missing a front tire and had deployed airbags.

An officer, Michael Mackey, was heading westbound on Lake Avenue, when he saw the car pull into a driveway. The police said that Mackey question the driver, and he denied his involvement in the accident, even though it was clear his car had been damaged.

The man, Andrew A. Zwick, a 44-year-old from Orchard Park, then failed the field sobriety tests. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and other charges. His vehicle was impounded.
