Man Found Guilty of Felony Assault in Crash Case
A jury has found a man guilty of felony assault after a trial. John W. Cole is the man who has been convicted of felony assault and driving while under the influence. The trial happened in the Saratoga County Court in Ballston Spa on March 16, 2018. The jury convicted John W. Coleman auto repair businessman, of the two charges. He was driving in one night and crashed his BMW into a tree on Sitterly Road. His actions left the passenger in his vehicle with severe injuries. The passenger is now quadriplegic. The jury was comprised of seven men and five women. They delivered the case for two days and announced the verdict at around 2:45 in the afternoon. His charges were guilty of second-degree assault and driving while impaired. He was also charged with reckless driving. District Attorney Karen Heggen had this to say to reporters about the verdict,
Victims Identified in Glenville Crash That Led to Fatalities
Victims have now been identified in a Glenville crash that led to fatalities. This accident occurred on April 2, 2018. The accident happened in the evening on that Monday. The Glenville police have identified the two people who were killed in the accident. According to the Glenville police, the victims were 28-year-old Joshua Mendetta who was a resident of Gloversville. He was on Amsterdam Road near Wolf Hollow Road at about 7 in the evening and was crossing onto the other side of the road. While he was crossing, a car being driven by Tamicia Liberty, a 59-year-old resident of Schenectady, hit into him. As of now, the accident is still under investigation by the police. But, they do not think that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident. The other victim who was killed appears to be Tamicia Liberty, but, so far, those details are not completely
Fatal Car-Pedestrian Crash Judged as Pedestrian Error
Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies have been investigating a car accident that led to the death of a pedestrian. This accident happened on March 27, 2018. The pedestrian who was killed was Nancy H. Berlin, a 77-year-old resident of Clifton Park. She was hit while walking on Main Street in Jonesville. The accident happened at about 7:30 p.m. The driver was in a 2008 Toyota Prius. The driver was Victor A Temple of Clifton Park. This information comes from a press release that the sheriff’s office sent out. Berlin was pronounced dead on arrival at Ellis Hospital. The police have stated that it was an error on the part of the pedestrian that led to the collision. The two incidents were completely separate and lead to the deaths of two people. A nonprofit organization wants a construction worker’s death to be investigated. An Ecuadorian construction worker was killed by a forklift at a worksite in the Jamaica area. An immigrant rights group that he was a member of wants answers about what happened and what caused the accident. The victim was Edgar Pazmino. His peers at New Immigrant Community Empowerment want justice and to know what happened. The 34-year-old was killed on March 13 when some machinery he had been working with pinned him against the wall of a luxury condo. This happened near 89th Avenue and 150th Street. The group doesn’t understand why Pazmino was allowed to work at the site because it was under a stop work order as it was violating many safety regulations. Study Finds 222 NY Metro Workplace Deaths Happened in 2016
Further reporting on the important study done on workplace safety in New York has found that there were 222 deaths in the Greater New York Metro area related to workplace accidents. This information is from 2016. This is the same number of fatalities related to workplace accidents in the prior year. This information comes from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data looked at the New York/Newark/New Jersey/and Pennsylvania metropolitan area. The number of workplace deaths has ranged from 145 in the year 2010 to 236 in the year 2004. The biggest number of workplace deaths happened because of vehicle accidents. But, there were 10 workplace deaths that happened because of homicide.
