Update: MTA Bus Action Plan

  The MTA unveiled a Bus Action Plan on Monday to improve their service. This plan includes measures that are sweeping and mean to improve the reliability and speed of the bus service in NYC. They are looking to modernize the network as the MTA bus has been losing ridership over the years. The plan is being presented by NYC Transit President Andy Byford. He is looking to reinvent the service. He wants to evaluate every bus route and revamp the entire program. They are looking to meet many initiatives that will be completed ranging from short-term to long-term. Changes include the MYmta app which will be made available in the next few weeks. This app will replace the apps already being used. This is the first of several steps that Byford came up with. He is looking to implement his overarching plan within his first 100 days on the

MTA Driver Arrested for Hitting Pedestrian While Driving Drunk

On April 27, an intoxicated MTA bus driver was arrested. The driver, Raquel James, was driving while drunk along Rockaway Parkway and Winthrop Street in Brooklyn. This happened at around 3 in the morning. While driving, he hit a female pedestrian. This information comes from the police. James was taken into custody. He has been charged with multiple charges including vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, and more. The extent of the injuries to the pedestrian is not known at this time.
