Actor Tracy Morgan Injured In NJ Turnpike Accident
Tracy Morgan, the former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” star, was injured in a six-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike early the morning of Saturday, June 7. Seven people were hospitalized and one died after the accident, according to local authorities. The accident occurred in Robbinsville, in Mercer County. Apparently, Morgan was on a “limo bus” and was returning from a performance in Delaware. The limo bus become was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer and overturned. Several other vehicles, including an SUV and a second tractor-trailer, became involved in the accident as well. A 63-year-old Peekskill, New York, man who apparently was a passenger on Morgan’s limo bus was killed. The other injured people were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Four electricians that breathed pure carbon dioxide from a fire suppression system will have their case heard by a jury. All four have been diagnosed with permanent brain injuries following a 2012 incident on a dry-docked oil rig in Brownsville, Texas. The accident specifically occurred at the Keppel Amfels shipyard, on the Sam Noble oil rig. The shipyard is one of the defendants named in the civil lawsuit, and the drilling contractor is as well. OSHA May Levy Fines Following A Workplace Fall From Ladder Or Scaffold
A March 2014 press release from the U.S. Department of Labor has outlined the findings of an investigation into a fatal fall from scaffolding. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration launched the investigation following the accident that occurred on September 20, 2013 at East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, Ga. Fall From Scaffolding A worker 42 years of age was working on scaffolding outside of a residence hall that put him about 19-feet off the ground. He subsequently fell from the scaffolding and did not survive. Now, OSHA has found that the employer, Jack Smiley, d/b/a Smiley Plaster Company, was at fault in the incident. The federal agency has levied fines totaling $57,000 as it has cited the painting concern for five safety violations.
