Driver Collides with Fairville Ambulance
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported that they are investigating a crash that happened on Austin Road in Arcadia. This accident happened on Saturday at around 7:30 in the morning. According to deputies, a car that was being driven by Donald L. Dewandel, who is 85 and from Newark, was going east on Austin Road. He then hit the back of a Fairville Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance. The ambulance was parked on the road. This collision is still being investigated. According to deputies, Dewandel was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by a Mercy Flight. He is being treated for injuries but the extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team is helping with the investigation. This is all that is know about this accident at this time. Shooting Victim Involved in Crash
The Onondaga County 911 Center received many calls about shots being fired in front of 160 Street. These calls came in started at around 10:41 at night. A few minutes later, the 911 callers started reporting that a two-vehicle crash had occurred at 130 Hudson Street. This information comes from dispatchers. Officers arrived at the scene and found a victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was in one of the cars involved in the crash. An ambulance took the victim to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. This information comes from Sgt. Richard Helterline. The victim was a 20-year-old woman who has since passed away. Update: Barn Fire in Canandaigua
This story is recent as it was reported on April 24. Investigators are looking into what caused a large fire to burn in Canandaigua. The fire is reported to have started at around 11:15 at night on Monday between homes located on Gorham and Gibson Streets. According to neighbors, they heard explosions coming from the barn while the crews were fighting the fire. The firefighting crews have reported that the carriage barn was completely destroyed in the blaze. It has also been reported that no one was hurt in the fire. Father of Yorkville Fire Victim Files Notice of Claim
The father of a girl who died in a house fire in Oneida County in January has filed a notice of claim against the village and the volunteer hose company. The father’s lawyer said on Tuesday that if a different dispatch call had been made that possibly Taylor Melanie and Heather, her mother, would be alive today. The fire happened on January 18 in Yorkville. Officials reported that the roof caved in while firefighters were fighting the fire. Taylor, who was 7 at the time, died in the blaze. Heather, her 41-year-old mother, died a few days later. The call came in at about 8:50, and it is alleged that nobody came to the home until 18 minutes later.
