Family of Late Driver Kevin Ward Jr. Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Tony Stewart and the parents of Kevin Ward Jr. have settled a wrongful-death lawsuit that was filed by the family of Kevin Ward Jr. This lawsuit was against the former NASCAR driver for his role in the death of their son. This incident happened on a dirt track in New York over three years ago. The minor agreements of the lawsuit are still being worked out and have not been devolved. The lawsuit was seeking damages and a jury trial had been set for May 7, but the judge in the case said it would be dismissed once procedures regarding Ward’s estate were finalized. Pamela Ward, the mother of the victim, was not satisfied with the outcome. Investigators to Look Into Crash Sites in Brooklyn and Hoboken
Federal investigators met in Washington to discuss the causes of two train accidents that involved engineers who had undiagnosed sleep apnea. Both of these accidents happened in the New York City area. The National Transportation Safety Board is looking to release the probable causes of a September 2016 crash in Hoboken and January 2017 LIRR crash in Brooklyn. Both trains were going double the speed limit for MTA trains as they were coming into the stations. Both of these crashes caused injuries to over 100 people. Update: 1 Worker, 2 Pedestrians Hit in Scaffolding Collapse
This story is an update on a story from earlier today. This is a new and developing story. Three people were hurt when a 20-foot section of scaffolding fell onto a Brooklyn sidewalk. Crews were working on taking apart large metal rods and panels at around 11 in the morning on Saturday when the scaffolding collapse near Brooklyn Borough Hall. The scaffolding hit one worker and two pedestrians and caused injury to all three of them. A witness, Jennifer Harvey, has this to say about the accident, ““We just all of a sudden heard a crashing of the scaffolding, and then people screaming.” The worker was the most seriously injured. Police Investigating Crash on I-684
On April 13, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks was investigating a motor vehicle crash that happened on Interstate 684 near Exit 6. The preliminary report suggests that it happened at around 12:20 in the afternoon. Zhi R. Ding, age 71, of Queens, was using the median shoulder of the interstate to change a tire on his Jeep. He was being helped by his passenger Xian Yansheng. A Honda Civic being driven by Mark Manzi, 33, of Harrison, NY, left the road and hit Ding and his vehicle. Both Ding and Yansheng had to be taken to Westchester Medical Center. Ding’s injuries were considered to be serious. This is all that is known at this time about the accident.
