This story is recent as it was reported on April 24. Investigators are looking into what caused a large fire to burn in Canandaigua. The fire is reported to have started at around 11:15 at night on Monday between homes located on Gorham and Gibson Streets. According to neighbors, they heard explosions coming from the barn while the crews were fighting the fire. The firefighting crews have reported that the carriage barn was completely destroyed in the blaze. It has also been reported that no one was hurt in the fire. The father of a girl who died in a house fire in Oneida County in January has filed a notice of claim against the village and the volunteer hose company. The father’s lawyer said on Tuesday that if a different dispatch call had been made that possibly Taylor Melanie and Heather, her mother, would be alive today. The fire happened on January 18 in Yorkville. Officials reported that the roof caved in while firefighters were fighting the fire. Taylor, who was 7 at the time, died in the blaze. Heather, her 41-year-old mother, died a few days later. The call came in at about 8:50, and it is alleged that nobody came to the home until 18 minutes later. Car Hits Into Apartment in Greenburgh
An elderly couple suffered from minor injuries after they hit their car into the front of an apartment building. This happened in Westchester County last Thursday. Their Honda Accord hit the front of Building B at the Scarsdale Ridge Apartments at 344 Central Park Avenue. This happened in Greenburgh at around 2 in the afternoon. The car drove halfway into the building and made a hole in the brick wall. The two people in the car were transported to Westchester County Medical Center. It appears that no one else was injured in the accident. The 12 apartments located in the building were evacuated, and the utilities also had to be shut off. Engineers are looking at the structural damage of the building. 2 Teenagers Accused of Starting Fire in Auburn
Two teenagers have been arrested and charged because of a large fire that caused damage to a vacant building on Perrine Street in Auburn. The police said witnesses saw the teenagers leaving the building just before the fire was reported. The teenage boys, both of them from Auburn, were found on Clark Street Road. They were both interviewed and then charged. Their names and photographs are not going to be released because they are minors. One of them, 16-years-old, was charged with fourth-degree arson and trespass. The other teenager was charged with trespassing.
