Update: Well-Known Chef Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter
An update on a story we reported on earlier has been found. This story was about an accident in Cayuga County that led to one fatality.
The driver who caused the accident was Stephen S. Landon, a 53-year-old man from Skaneateles. He has now been accused of driving while drunk. While doing so, he crashed into another car and killed a 25-year-old many from Auburn. The crash happened in early March.
Landon is a well-known Chef from Central New York who has won many awards for his cooking. He was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular assault as well as aggravated driving while intoxicated and many other charged. This information comes from the deputies.
The victim, Travis Manwaring, 25, was dead at the scene. Three other passengers in the car died at the scene.
Landon was arrested after he was released from Upstate University Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries after the crash.
Landon was named a 2014 Chef of the Year by the American Culinary Federation Syracuse chapter.
